PUBLIC SAFETY SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
Job Description
The Public Safety Systems Administrator is responsible for management and maintenance of Gila River Indian
Community Public Safety Information Technology system’s needs, including but not limited to installing,
configuring, troubleshooting and upgrading software applications and hardware. Maintaining hardware and
software applications inventories and licensing for the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and various Public
Safety Records Management Systems (RMS), Mobile systems, other related systems and various interface
systems while adhering to IT policies, standards and life-cycle management. Generate and create a complex
statistical analysis report of business and information systems. The Public Safety Systems Administrator
schedules and coordinates installations, repairs and updates of Public Safety IT equipment. Providing customer
service, technical support and assistance to end users.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs routine to complex setup, installation, and configuration of the CAD, RMS and other Public Safety
systems to include new software releases and upgrades; implements, configures, and test related Public Safety
applications. Configure, monitor and maintain access security for the systems.
Troubleshoots and resolves routine to complex problems with servers, databases, emergency communication
applications and user hardware and software; works with vendor to resolve issues when appropriate. Installs
and repairs desktop hardware and software. Configures test and maintains network, server, workstation and
mobile hardware and software, which enables access to GRIC Public Safety Systems.
Consults with users to identify existing systems problems or new business requirements then evaluates and
recommends various software and hardware solutions to meet the user needs. Assists with researching,
recommending, implementing and testing new functionality and configuration changes,
Develop and implement IT operation procedures and policies to enforce the system discipline and ensure that
security standards are met. Will analyze trends, anticipate requirements and recommend technology strategies
for future planning and system development.
Collaborate and communicate with other departments’ IT support staff on all system changes, direction, and
planned upgrades and other matters pertaining to the application.
Provide 24/7 on-call services for any Public Safety IT systems related issues for all the Public Safety
Departments.
