DEPARTMENT: Collections

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Reporting to the Mobile Services Coordinator and Team Leads, position is responsible for monitoring the inventory and arranging for or performing maintenance of equipment used on mobile blood drives. Involves frequent contact with other employees within the Mobile and Neighborhood Donor Center section, and with flexible and/or shift hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned. Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

  • Evaluate schedule for quality control of equipment, prioritize order to perform evaluations, and communicate schedule to Facility and Mobile management. Determine equipment inventory timeline and develop and maintain inventory database.
  • Perform regular inventory of equipment in Donor Collections and analyze results. Recommend changes to inventory levels and communicate recommendations to Donor Collections management.
  • Perform regular quality control (QC) and maintenance all equipment related to Donor Collection and various laboratory equipment. Communicate results of testing and maintenance and status of equipment after QC evaluation completed. Prioritize quality control functions, reconcile of quality control tasks, and communicate results of quality control to Donor Collections management.
  • Evaluate condition of equipment and determine if equipment should be repaired or replaced, and who should repair it. Arrange and expedite repairs of equipment assigned to outside vendors. Order parts from outside vendors. Expedite repair of equipment that can be fixed in-house. Ensure all repairs accommodate prior needs of mobile collection schedule.
  • Report status of repairs, equipment status and outcomes of repairs to supervisor. Inform supervisor of problems with missing or broken equipment.
  • Act as back up for Equipment Monitors. Act as the liaison between Building & Fleet and Donor Collections for mobile equipment issues.
  • Assist in research and evaluation of new equipment and the installation of new equipment. Recommend plan for installing or deploying new equipment.
  • Coordinate change control process between Mobile Services and other areas of the change control group.
  • Maintain neat and clean work area at all times.
  • Protect Blood Center property at all times from damages or lost while in our possession. Decides potential risk/hazard associated with equipment and property.
  • Comply with all existing Blood Center policies and procedures including operating vehicles according to the VLCC.

Attendance

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in The Blood Centers sole discretion.

Regular Hours

Full time: must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or such other days or hours per week as The Blood Center determines are necessary to meet business needs.

Overtime (applicable only to non-exempt positions)

Must be available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as The Blood Center determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.

Weekend and Holidays

Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as The Blood Center determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Off-Site Work

Must be regularly able to work at off-site locations and to transport self to same.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school Diploma or GED and minimum one year previous job related experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in a production or inventory control environment preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Texas Driver's License (TDL) plus acceptable driving record

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, independently. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
