DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Recreation Aide assists in organizing, promoting, planning, and conducting various activities, recreational
programs and/or special events based on analysis of the Community. This position involves considerable direct
and indirect contact with the public and other departments in the Community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


- Assist in planning and organizing activities/programs under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator.
0 Assist in facilitating/implementing daily program activities for all age groups.
0 Assist in administrative tasks such as making copies, ?iers, ?ling, signage, and requesting quotes from
vendors.Assist in setting up and preparing equipment/ supplies for program activities/events.Assist in recordkeeping/documentation of all participants who participate in activities on a daily basis.
Assist in maintaining a clean facility and keeping all areas and supplies/equipment disinfected.Assist in transportation participants to events and activities, which includes keeping the tribal vehicle
maintained and clean.Assist in inventorying all equipment and supplies; Assist in shopping for equipment and supplies.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:Knowledge of facilities and equipment to assist with recreational activities.
Knowledge of recreation concepts.Knowledge of a wide variety of recreational activities for kids and adults.
Knowledge of the Gila River Indian Community.Ability to work with all ages and gender.Ability to keep inventory of equipment and supplies.Ability to record/document daily participation of participants.Ability to plan, assign and assist in supervision of activities.Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

and the public.
0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
0 Any combination of the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the functions of the position
is required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
0 Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the
application.
0 Required to a pass background check and ?ngerprint clearance as a condition of employment and must
continue to maintain throughout duration of employment. Background checks are required for positions that
involve regular contact with or control over Community Children in accordance with The Indian Child
Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 US. C. Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63
and positions that have regular contact with the Elderly.

- Maintain current CPR & First Aid Certi?cation or obtain certi?cation within 60 days of employment.
0 Required mandatory reporter pursuant to Title 7, Chapter 2 (7.205), B.
0 Required to attend Title 7 Mandatory Reporting training on a yearly basis.Non-Supervisory, Hourly Position
