Job Description
The Recreation Aide assists in organizing, promoting, planning, and conducting various activities, recreational
programs and/or special events based on analysis of the Community. This position involves considerable direct
and indirect contact with the public and other departments in the Community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist in planning and organizing activities/programs under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator.
Assist in facilitating/implementing daily program activities for all age groups.
Assist in administrative tasks such as making copies, fliers, filing, signage, and requesting quotes from
vendors.
Assist in setting up and preparing equipment/supplies for program activities/events.
Assist in recordkeeping/documentation of all participants who participate in activities on a daily basis.
Assist in maintaining a clean facility and keeping all areas and supplies/equipment disinfected.
Assist in transportation participants to events and activities, which includes keeping the tribal vehicle
maintained and clean.
Assist in inventorying all equipment and supplies; Assist in shopping for equipment and supplies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Knowledge of facilities and equipment to assist with recreational activities.
Knowledge of recreation concepts.
Knowledge of a wide variety of recreational activities for kids and adults.
Knowledge of the Gila River Indian Community.
Ability to work with all ages and gender.
Ability to keep inventory of equipment and supplies.
Ability to record/document daily participation of participants.
Ability to plan, assign and assist in supervision of activities.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
