The Ambulatory Surgery RN provides care that addresses the specific needs of age groups from infant to elderly, and is also individualized to a variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, non-English speaking, and potential victims of abuse. The Ambulatory Surgery RN incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, our mission, vision and values into nursing practice at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in ambulatory clinic settings in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance within the scope of the RN as defined by the Massachusetts Board of Nursing
Able to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language.
Able to complete mathematical computations required to perform treatment protocols.
Excellent assessment skills, clinical skills and organizational skills, computer knowledge and charge capabilities.
Possesses critical thinking skills.
Able to lift, transfer and move patients.
Proficient IV Skills a MUST.
Work hours are variable based on patient care needs and needs of the unit.
Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates patient care outcomes from admission to discharge.
Baccalaureate degree in nursing or related field preferred. Graduate of an approved School of Nursing
Experience: Requires 1-2 years previous Ambulatory Surgery RN experience or 1-2 years previous Critical Care Unit RN experience
Currently licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Basic Life Support certification, Meditech
Successful completion of Standard Med test. Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, teamwork and teaching capabilities. Scheduled hours and days are varied and flexible, and candidate must be flexible at all times to accommodate such. On-Call required
This position will be eligible to participate in a comprehensive benefit plan which includes a pension plan as defined below. PensionSteward shall make bi-weekly contributions to the Nurses and Local 813 IBT Retirement Fund (the Plan,) equal to 5% of W-2 Compensation earned in a LMA Position by each Eligible Employee during the applicable bi-weekly period.
