Job Description
The Senior Manager of SEC Reporting is responsible for directing, planning, coordinating, and executing all external financial reporting processes and initiatives. This role partners with internal leaders in Investor Relations, Finance, Accounting, Legal and Human Resources. This individual is also responsible for identifying and driving reporting improvement opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manage the entire SEC reporting process including SEC document preparation, data analysis, integrity, and filing submission.
- Own and manage detailed reporting calendars to enable meeting strict SEC reporting deadlines.
- Oversee all information included on Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K and related exhibits (i.e. Earnings Releases) and all other external reports and presentations that include financial results.
- Oversee all other company filings (i.e. statutory, stand-alone subsidiary and 401-K reports, Franchise Disclosure Documents).
- Maintain reporting cycle timelines and monitor progress against process milestones.
- Partner with various departments including accounting, finance, legal, HR, and others to gather, consolidate and analyze information, and coordinate, review and collect comments on draft documents.
- Review XBRL reporting for all required filings.
- Monitor and revise policies and procedures as needed to ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over external financial reporting.
- Evaluate new accounting rules and SEC regulations to assess impact on the financial reporting process.
- Prepare technical accounting memorandums, as needed.
- Partner with senior level management and coordinate effectively with support departments (i.e. internal and external counsel, finance, investor relations, treasury and internal and external auditors). Assist and partner with those that own proxy filings to ensure data integrity.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting Required
- Masters Degree in Accounting, Preferred
- CPA License
Experience:
- 5+ years of practical accounting experience, including relevant experience with a publicly traded company in an SEC reporting role
- Big 4 auditing experience is preferable
- Proficient in financial statement preparation; Workiva "Wdesk" experience is a plus
- High level of expertise and up-to-date familiarity in SEC reporting rules and regulations and US GAAP standards
- Strong management level capabilities
