Job Description
CPLC Community Schools offer high school students in low-income communities a culturally-relevant learning environment that caters to each student's individual needs. Our vision is to grow the future leaders of our community by increasing educational achievement, graduation rates, civic participation, and college entrance and graduation. We are a non-profit charter holder for two charter high schools in the Tucson Area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY
Ability to provide quality instruction pertinent to the subject area
Extensive knowledge of cooperative learning strategies, differentiation, small group instruction, knowledge of developing formative and summative assessments to inform instruction
Ability to incorporate research-proven teaching strategies into daily lesson delivery
Be familiar with the AZ History and Social Science Standards
Ability to integrate reading and writing into the social studies curriculum
Experience working with diverse populations
Ability to maintain a positive attitude and build positive and appropriate relationships with students
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Curriculum Planning and Delivery
Deliver exceptional standards-based instruction in the assigned content area(s) and grade level(s) that ensures academic growth for ALL students.
Develop daily and unit lesson plans that are thoughtful, goal-oriented, and aligned with the curriculum and the AZ State Standards.
Communicate regularly with parents and be available for Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and other events involving parents.
Be available to provide students with homework help before and after school.
Develop and implement detailed plans that support student learning in keeping with the school's priorities and structures: (EX: Portfolio creation; Passage/ Graduation Presentation preparation; internship support; wellness planning; student-led conference preparation; exhibition of student work preparation; culture building)
Continuously collect student data and analytics to drive classroom instruction (formative and summative assessments)
Collaborate with colleagues to create and implement interdisciplinary standard-based project learning.
Incorporate explicit literacy instruction (reading and writing) into content-area lesson plans.
Incorporate core curriculum and instructional practice into daily lessons and units.
Classroom Management
Develop appropriate positive relationships with students, including explicitly recognizing their growth (e.g., positive calls home, positive notes, etc.)
Consistently implement the school-wide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus.
Assessment
Regularly assess student mastery of key skills and concepts and use this data to differentiate instruction to meet student needs.
Maintain accurate, thorough student achievement and behavioral performance records and complete Progress Reports and Report Cards promptly and as scheduled.
Participate in data analysis meetings.
Professional Development
Master the necessary content knowledge and skills to successfully teach assigned content area(s) and grade level(s)
Punctually attend and positively contribute at all daily and/or weekly staff meetings.
Grow as a professional educator with classes/workshops for professional development (in specific areas of interest and/or need), coaching, and feedback from principals and peers.
Participate in ongoing professional development, including a Professional Learning Community (PLC) focusing on effective instructional practice.
Attend content area and school team meetings focusing on assessment, curriculum development, and instructional practice.
Participate in professional growth meetings with the principal.
Effective January 3, 2022, all CPLC Employees and all Service Providers are required to be Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19. Newly hired employees, who are not Fully Vaccinated at the time of hire, are expected to begin a vaccination series immediately upon hire. CPLC recognizes medical and religious exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccination requirement, in accordance with applicable law and upon approval by CPLC. However, any person approved for an exemption, without exception, is subject to masking and other requirements established by CPLC from time to time.

- Bachelor's or Masters's degree in education or content area
- Arizona teaching certification in the content area preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of AZ History and Social Science Standards
- Must possess a valid Class 1 or Class 2 Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in planning for academic improvement in academic areas other than your own, as needed
- Deep understanding of social studies concepts and inquiry-based instruction
- Willingness to teach multiple grades and subject levels
- Willingness to differentiate instruction
- Willingness to oversee/ advise extracurricular activities (student clubs, intramural sports, music instruction, etc.)
- Willingness to work with students before or after school to support their academic growth
- Experience utilizing community experts and community resources to enhance content instruction preferred
- Experience building student and parent relationships to improve student achievement
- Experience working with an underserved student population
