KES' client is seeking a PEL Certified Social Worker who can make a difference in the lives of children in Lake County, IL
SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
* Help students function effectively in a school environment by interacting with students to assess the areas in which they might need counseling or assistance.
* Communicate with parents, teachers and administrators to provide a full view of the issues facing an individual student or group of students.
* Maintain case files and reports to track student problems and progress and to recognize patterns in behavior.
* Assist in remediation by providing counseling, treatment plans and/or workshops.
* Track and follows up on all referrals made in and out of school.
* Establish referral network/linkages with outside agencies for both students and parents
* Serve as an advocate for students' rights within the school and serves as a mediator between parents, child and school.
* Assess the social and emotional needs of students (students, participants, members).
* Provide direct counseling/social services to students referred by self, faculty, administration, special education and other school ancillary staff.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree
* Minimum of one year social work experience in an urban public school
or charter school setting is preferred.
* Valid Illinois PEL in Social Work Type 73 is required
* State licenses in process or completed
