Sr. Litigation Paralegal

Job Description

Summary:

Provide primary paralegal services for commercial and employment law matters and supporting paralegal services for public liability and workers compensation matters, which will include preparation for litigation, discovery responses, research and maintaining litigation files. Provide support for the restaurants when responding to inquiries from OSHA, Department of Labor and local regulatory agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Identifies internal documentation needed for litigation or agency inquiries.

2. Conducts witness interviews and investigates case facts.

3. Serves as a limited liaison between outside counsel, restaurants, agencies, experts, witnesses, third parties, and other outside contacts.

4. Summarizes records, court files and depositions.

5. Reviews and summarizes third party and company documents.

6. Tracks and monitors cases and documents for ongoing litigation matters.

7. Compiles company documents responsive to data requests.

8. Drafts, prepares and performs limited reviews of legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, discovery materials, appeals and contracts.

9. Assists in trial preparation and discovery practices such as to gather and organize exhibits, trial data, documents and other materials in response to subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, motions for summary judgments, etc.

10.Keeps current with procedures used by local, state and federal courts.


Qualifications:

1. Associates degree or paralegal certification. Bachelor's degree or paralegal focused degree preferred.

2. Minimum five years paralegal experience in a defense law firm or corporate legal department.

3. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate by e-mail, telephone, and in person to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact in an environment with a diverse group of personalities with a Restaurant First mentality.

4. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

5. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

6. Ability to efficiently work under moderate supervision.

7. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

8. Ability to meet deadlines in an environment with frequent interruptions.

9. Flexible and solution oriented.

10. Comfort and competency in computer technology using Microsoft Office Suite, Windows, Legal Tracker, EthicsPoint, Origami and document management tools.

11. Ability to quickly learn various internal technological platforms to obtain data.
