Senior Staff Software Engineer

Synaptics Incorporated is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for its San Diego, California office.

Job Duties: Lead the development of new features by closely working with System, SW and FW engineering teams. Partner closely with System, SW and FW team members to debug issues reported by internal SVT or external customers. Work with tier one customers directly or indirectly to understand their requests, abstract generic resolutions, design and deliver a solution to meet or exceed customer’s expectations. Implement and maintain Bluetooth controller firmware and other Bluetooth related features. Ensure software quality through rigorous testing, debugging, and performance tuning. Contribute to the development of technical documentation and user guides. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members. Drive innovation by proposing and implementing new features and enhancements. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Bluetooth technology and industry standards. Telecommuting is permitted.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering Technology or a related field; and four (4) years of experience in each of the following:

• Design, development and maintenance of large-scale embedded software for wireless technology products.

• Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.

• Bluetooth Core Specification, including BR/EDR and Low Energy (BLE).

• Integration and validation of Bluetooth controller with host stack and application layers.

• Bare metal and RTOS embedded software development, real-time scheduling, interrupt programming and low-power system design.

• Collaboration with hardware, system, and QA teams to ensure functionality, performance, and robustness of large-scale embedded software.

• Perform debugging and root cause analysis of interoperability and performance issues across multi-vendor devices.

Salary: $179,700 to $287,000 per year
