Position Summary

The Student Success Specialist Srwill participate in a variety of programs, services, and initiatives inaccordance with the objectives of the Pathways to Articulation and SustainableOpportunities for Students (PASOS) grant, specifically related to ILEAD(Integrating Lived Experiences with Academic Dreams) Program outreach and PASOSResource Center support. The successful applicant will have experiencesupporting student success through wraparound services to include, but notlimited to:

  • Advisement and support recruitment of former students and/or students who have had a break in their education,
  • Developing relationships with community and campus partners,
  • Facilitating a re-entry bridge seminar and college success workshops,
  • Providing community and campus resource referral, and
  • Performing specialized outreach for targeted student groups.
  • Support activities and events in the PASOS resource center.

The Student Success Specialist Srwill work with staff and faculty to ensure student needs are being met per thegrant requirements to achieve and maintain the standards set by the fundingagency. The applicant works as part of a dynamic team to implement newstrategies and procedures specific to the grant. This person serves as aliaison interacting with internal and external constituencies including TheUniversity of New Mexico-Main Campus, as well as Valencia, Torrance, andSocorro County constituents. The individual will ensure compliance withFederal, State, and University rules, regulations, and policies.

Located about 30 miles south ofAlbuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-ValenciaCampus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico whichfunctions as a community college in the region and is designated a HispanicServing Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, ValenciaCampus offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, AdultBasic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia andSocorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over2,000 credit students per semester.

This is a grant-funded position with current funding through 09/30/2025, with the possibility of renewal.

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience recruiting and/or advising low-income and/or Hispanic community college or branch campus students
  • Experience developing campus and community partnerships, including outreach to employers, community organizations, and local businesses
  • Experience with data collection and records management of confidential information
  • Experience leading/supervising employees
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
