          JOB SUMMARY
          Oversee Traffic Safety throughout Pinal County, ensure Pinal County has safe and efficient roadways, and ensure all roadways signs are located, installed correctly, are appropriate for the application, all pavement markings are correct, and all traffic signals are operating correctly.
          Example of Duties

          Work in this classification requires an individual to be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.           TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
          • Oversee established road speeds on the roadways, perform studies, and work with consultants to establish warrants or needs of particular roads.
          • Review Traffic Impact Analysis reports for new development projects.
          • Review private development and Pinal County Capital Improvement Plans for appropriate installation of traffic control devices.
          • Manage projects as they relate to traffic safety and efficiency.
          • Coordinate and communicate with Pinal County Sheriff's Office.
          • Maintain contact and communicate with the traveling public.
          • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
          • Perform other related duties as required.
          Minimum Requirements

          MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
          • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering, or related field.
          • Five (5) years of professional experience.
          • Valid Arizona State Driver's License is required within 30 days of hire.
          • Professional Engineer in Civil (P.E.) designation.
          Preferred Qualifications:


          • Certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
          Supplemental Information

          Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
          • Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of transportation planning.
          • Knowledge of professional techniques and practices for efficient and cost effective management of resources.
          • Skill in interpreting and applying state laws and County policies and procedures governing PWD functions.
          • Skill in analyzing PWD issues, evaluating alternatives, and developing recommendations for solving problems.
          • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
          • Ability to check designs, details, estimates, plans, and specifications of engineering projects.
          • Ability to assess County needs and develop and promote effective solutions.
          • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands and plan and coordinate the work of others.
          PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
          The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the ability to crouch, finger, grasp, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, speak, hear, stand, walk, operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment, and demonstrate visual and mental acuity.

          Work is performed in a relatively safe, secure, and stable work environment.

          The hiring salary for this position is dependent upon experience, qualifications and position funding; starting salaries above the midpoint require additional approval.

          This position is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not a covered position under the Pinal County Merit System Rules. Incumbents in this position serve at the pleasure of their respective Appointing Authority. The employment relationship is "at-will" and employment may be terminated at any time, for any reason, with or without cause.
