Job Title: VP of Payroll Tax, Quality

Department: Payroll Tax

FLSA Status: Full Time & Exempt

Reports To: SVP of Payroll Tax 


Position Summary: Directs and oversees activities of the organization's tax function and establishes and implements the organization's corporate tax strategy.



Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, direction, and training to Managers. 
  • Oversee the corresponding aspects of the Payroll Tax department.
  • Establish or maintain procedures to reduce payroll tax discrepancies, ensure accuracy and timely processes. 
  • Ensure the department is handling all processes assigned timely and accurately. 
  • Ensure the organization is compliant with federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Work closely with internal departments to identify and resolve discrepancies. 
  • Resolve escalated issues with clients or internal departments. 
  • Communicate complex payroll tax information to all levels of organization and clients. 
  • Manages W2 and Year-End process.
  • Other duties as assigned



Desired Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to communicate complex payroll tax information to all levels of organization and clients.
  • In depth knowledge of all payroll tax processes including liability payment processing, tax return processing, W2/Year-End, etc. 
  • Must have excellent time manage depth in knowledge of all payroll tax processes including liability payment processing, tax return processing, W2/Year-End, etc. 
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll tax and the regulatory environment, which includes federal, multi-state, and local tax regulations as well as the ability to read, understand, and analyze highly complex regulatory payroll tax information. 
  • Motivated with great time management skill sent and organization skills. 
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years multi-state, multi-jurisdiction and high-volume Payroll Tax experience and minimum of 5 years of Management experience in Payroll Tax with a large team required. 
  • PEO or related industry experience preferred. 
  • Hands-on tax return processing experience is required. 
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, federal, state and local wage laws required.
  • MasterTax and Prism/HRP experience preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification required
