Wastewater Treatment Operator

Keymark Corporation, a leading manufacturer of aluminum extrusions and building products, is seeking a dependable Wastewater Treatment Operator to run our automated treatment system. You'll neutralize sulfuric anodizing wastewater and remove sludge so our discharge consistently meets EPA and DEC standards. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in environmental compliance, safety, and keeping a critical process running smoothly.

What You'll Do

• Monitor influent and effluent flows through the treatment system
• Watch control panels and maintain proper waste and chemical levels in all tanks
• Test samples for pH and sludge settling, record readings, and make corrective adjustments
• Move supplies and sludge using hand trucks and drum carts
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain treatment equipment
• Keep accurate records, including:
• Daily activity logbook
• Supply requisitions for feed-tank and test chemicals
• Consumption of in-process chemicals
• Maintain control of treatment system equipment and work safely around chemicals and machinery
• Read and interpret system manuals, prints, layouts, and process flows
• Identify Keymark waste streams and their proper treatment and disposal methods
• Respond to and contain chemical hazards within the facility

What You'll Solve

• Chemical leaks and treatment adjustments to keep the system in compliance
• Emergency situations, handled quickly and according to established protocol

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Basic knowledge of discharge permit limitations
• Understanding of best operating practices for water treatment
• Working math skills, including ratios
• Flexibility to adjust your schedule when situations require it
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with other departments and outside service providers

Working Conditions

• 98% indoors, 2% outdoors
• Regular exposure to extreme heat, with or without temperature changes
• Work around chemicals and industrial equipment; PPE provided
