The Town of Marana is seeking a Water Engineering Manager to work in the Water Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in managing the day-to-day operations of the Water Department’s Engineering Division and having a direct impact on the Town’s water infrastructure improvements in a fast growing community.

Expected Hiring Range: $94,574 - $118,218
- Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.
Salary Range: $94,574 - $141,861
Examples of Duties- Provides leadership and development to assigned staff; establishes team goals and objectives of the functional area(s); Participates in the recruitment process, ensures adequate staffing levels, evaluates work performance, ensures policy and procedure compliance, and provides guidance in employee relations matters.
- Manages Marana Water’s 5-year Capital Improvement program by scoping, preparing cost estimates, reviewing project submittals, coordinating with other departments for completeness, and ensuring constructability.
- Provides oversight of the design and construction of CIP projects including fiscal budgeting, plan reviews, project designs, managing consultant contracts and specifications, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating reviews with other departments.
- Represents the Town at regional meetings, public meetings, and professional functions.
- Oversees planning efforts for water and wastewater utility infrastructure and operations including hydraulic modeling review, alternatives analysis, and managing consultant contracts.
- Conducts engineering review and provides engineering-based guidance to Marana Water distribution, production, treatment, financial, and water resources staff.
- Manages water and wastewater system construction observations and preparation of Engineer’s Certificates of Completion for water and wastewater projects.
- Manages the review, construction observation, and testing of Developer-funded projects, ensuring compliance with Marana Water’s standards and ADEQ requirements.
- Manages the preparation of the Town’s water and wastewater systems capacity updates.
- Manages updates to the Town’s water and wastewater infrastructure in GIS.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. (Additional relevant professional experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis.)
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related field.
- Must have three years of supervisory experience or must have one year of supervisory experience and participate in the Town’s leadership development program within one year of hire date.
- Current registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in Arizona.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Arizona Driver License.
- Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience in managing and overseeing water and water reclamation master plans, infrastructure improvement plans and a variety of water and water reclamation CIP and developer related projects.
- Experience in managing engineering staff, consultants, developers and contractors from design through construction activities.
- Working with internal stakeholders such as Development Services and Public Works (CIP Division) related to Water Development and Capital projects.
- Understanding and experience with budget and procurement processes.
